[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote]Welcome to hell.
No seriously. That's what it says on the sign just outside of the city. Welcome to Snowbell City. It's supposedly a city that stands for hope in the middle of a desolate wasteland. Many people come to the city in hopes of finding somewhere safe to hide from the chimera. Due to this, however, the concentration of humans is huge and it is also the cause of most of the homelessness.
Many of the buildings are condemned or overall abandoned. Some people duck out in them, so it's not uncommon to hear voices coming from said buildings. There are, however, houses that remain standing. People have fixed them up to the best they can. However since some chimera also live in the town, most of the residents hide in the basements. Or at least during the night time, anyway.
The pavement is badly torn up and there are rare and few times when people can drive over it. That is, if there are even any cars that can function properly. There are several places however that are securely guarded for the humans to continue socializing as they would if everything was normal.
If one were to leave the town, there's only one road. On foot, it'd take about ten or so minutes before reaching the fork in the road. There are five different ways to go. One way leads to the Sierra Mountains. It's generally snowing there and few chimera reside there. However, because of the mountainous terrain there are often mountain lions and bears lurking about. It's not the safest place to be either.
Another road would take you to the Evergreen Forest. Very few people enter the forest due to the chimeras lurking around. It's extremely dangerous in this area. Some rogue bioweapons live here as well, so if you're planning to take a trip through the forest. You better be prepared.
Another road would take you to the Snowdrop Valley. Where the flowers for which the capital was named grow. Some people live there because of safety, though there are also some wild animals that live there.
The Northwestern beach is the fourth branch, though it's not the best place to be. The shores are rocky and sharp and the waves are violent. It's not the kind of place you want to be if you're trying to go swimming. Be careful. The rocks are slippery and if you happen to fall, well. It was nice knowing you.
The last road would take you to the ruins, where most of the human civilization had once thrived. Few people venture out there though, unless they are in search of a chimera hunter.
If traveling past the landmarks, it'd eventually take you to the waste. There are few things out there due to the fact it literally is a wasteland. There is however a carnival out there where the circus folk are not exactly as cheery as they should be. They're actually very malicious and creepy. Many are believed to be chimera. But because they are also the leaders in the black market, no one says a word.
The world that these people live in is not great, but people are learning to make the best of what they have. You never really know what you have until it's gone, after all.
